This photo page is from Merle Thomas, who was with the 557th - 101st
Airborne. This photo shows Merle with Smokey outside of Hue in I Corp. Sgt.
John Leveque and PFC Hannah are with them and all are following up on an ambush from the
night before. |

Sgt. Leveque, Sgt. Merle Thomas and a line unit RTO looking at a
"sign" left by NVA west of FB Birmingham. They were following NVA soldiers
and water buffalo who were suspected of being used to transport 122 mm rockets, used to
rocket Camp Eagle and the helicopter pads. |

Other members of the Team are behind them, but this is Merle Thomas and
Smokey taking a break in the outskirts of Hue. |

The Team had just "popped smoke" for an inbound slick to pick
them up. This is Merle waiting for a ride back to Camp Eagle for a well earned rest! |

This is a wonderful photo of Smokey (T006) who was one of the great
Labradors who were important members of the Team. |

This photo is of Alex Villalobos with Tarka the WonderDog. It was
taken in the 557th IPCT area. Merle writes, "We were between the 1st Bde. TOC
and the Chinook pad, so when we were rocketed, it was often very interesting!"
Understatement of the year! |

This photo shows Gordon Myers, a Visual Tracker and the 557th area and
Chinook pad in the background. |
