Track Memorial #6.JPG (31059 bytes) The dedication of the Tracker plaque and pedestal took place on October 27, 200l. It is adjacent to the National War Dog Memorial located on Sacrifice Field at Fort Benning. The addition to the National Memorial was the concept of Jessie Mendez. He is a retired senior NCO and was involved in the early stages of the War Dog program in Viet Nam. He envisions a series of pedestals encircling the center monument that will honor all War Dog specialties from all wars. Thanks to Jessie for his efforts and to the Trackers for their donations.
Track Memorial #8.JPG (37339 bytes) Pictured is the Tracker Memorial display. It honors all Trackers, both human and canine, that made the ultimate sacrifice. A moving ceremony was given in the National Infantry Museum auditorium on the day of the Dedication. Thanks to all that made this possible and we hope that the ceremony and display will be a part of future Tracker reunions.
